John Heltzel, Founder and Managing Partner
John is a fractional VP of business development and corporate development for early stage technology startups.
With more than twenty years of experience working with technology companies, John is fundamentally an entrepreneur who loves building and growing products and organizations. He not only helps create the market, business, and corporate development strategies, but takes an active role in the company, rolling up his sleeves and executing the plan along with the CEO and management team.
Prior to Los Altos Advisors, John was Vice President of Business Development at NearbyNow, a location based mobile search company backed by Draper Fisher Jurvetson and Norwest Venture Partners. During his tenure, he led the worldwide strategic and business development efforts, including negotiating partnerships with Google, Yahoo and retailers worldwide.
In addition to his experience in e-commerce, online advertising, and mobile, John has built and managed teams to initiate, grow and close sales, strategic alliances and channel partnerships with Software as a Service, security software and payment services. Earlier in his career, he worked in corporate and business development for Zix Corporation, Entrust, SkyTel, and Silicon Graphics.
John has a BA in International Economics and an MBA from UCLA.
